Demystifying the GEF at a workshop in Latin America
Uruguay is a country whose economy was built on cattle grazing. It has rolling hills, a temperate climate, sprawling beaches, and no difficult-to-access areas, like jungles, dense forests, or mountainous regions. But while in some countries cattle farming is a driver of deforestation, in Uruguay it presents a different climate challenge – the increased release of the greenhouse gas methane.
Reunión Proyecto Acuífero Guaraní
Esta instancia constituye la primera reunión de seguimiento al proyecto “Implementation of the Guarani Aquifer Strategic Action Program: Enabling Regional Actions”, que fue presentado por CAF a financiamiento del GEF, con anuencia de Argentina, Brasil, Paraguay y Uruguay. La reunión es organizada por el Centro Regional para la Gestión de las Aguas Subterráneas de América Latina y el Caribe (CeReGAS), a efectos de considerar las observaciones del GEF al documento de proyecto presentado y considerar los asuntos de su gobernanza.
Uruguay ECW 2019
The ECWs keep the GEF National Focal Points, Convention Focal Points and other key stakeholders, including civil society, up to date on GEF strategies, policies and procedures and to encourage coordination. These events enable focal points to meet with their counterparts from other countries in the region. They also allow other GEF partners, especially GEF Agencies, to discuss and review policies and procedures and to share experiences from GEF projects and their integration within national policy frameworks.
