Esteban Bermudez Forn
Esteban joined the Global Environment Facility Secretariat in November 2021 as Climate Change Specialist. He is part of the Climate Change Mitigation Unit and serves as the point of contact for GEF support to the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF).
From 2016 to 2021, he worked with the UNEP Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, leading a community of practice on electric mobility, assisting governments from the region in deploying this technology. He also supported the design and implementation of numerous projects related to sustainable energy and electric mobility financed by the GEF, Green Climate Fund, and other bilateral and multilateral financiers. Esteban was recognized as an "Innovator Under 35" by the MIT Technology Review in 2016, and as a "Global Shaper" by the World Economic Forum in 2015.
Previously, he worked as an international energy and climate change consultant, as a lecturer at the University of Costa Rica, and as co-founder of several civil society organizations and a private consulting firm in his home country of Costa Rica.
Esteban holds a bachelor's degree in electric engineering and a master's in sustainable energy technology from Delft Technology University and is currently pursuing an MBA at the Warwick Business School.
