Francoise Clottes was appointed as Director of Strategy and Operations on February 16, 2017. Her top priorities are leading the development of the GEF’s policy framework to enhance its impact on the protection of the global commons; enhancing internal systems to improve operational efficiency and result focus, and evolving partnerships to adapt to new opportunities and challenges.
A French national, Ms. Clottes joined the World Bank in 1994 as a Young Professional. Over the years, Ms. Clottes has served in a range of different capacities, at the corporate, sector and country level, in five out of six regions, and in several field positions. Over the course of ten years, she deployed successively as Country Manager for Morocco, as Country Director for the 14 Caribbean Countries in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region, and more recently, as Country Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives.
