Jihyeon Jeong
Jihyeon Jeong (Ji) joined the Global Environment Facility Secretariat in July 2024 and works on portfolio and results management within the Operations and Policy Division.
His background spans environmental and climate finance, urban infrastructure, and data analytics. Prior to joining the GEF, Ji served as a specialist at the Green Climate Fund, where he managed portfolio performance, results, knowledge, and analytics to support strategic decision-making. He has also held positions at the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Korean Army, and engaged in consulting and policy work with PwC, Deloitte, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations Secretariat.
Ji holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Yonsei University and a master’s degree in urban planning from Columbia University, with a focus on urban analytics and international development. Alongside his professional role, he is currently pursuing a part-time DPhil at the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford, where his research explores geospatial modeling of climate risks to global energy infrastructure. He also serves as a Lead Author for the IPCC’s Special Report on Climate Change and Cities. Ji is a certified urban planner through the American Institute of Certified Planners.
