Omid Parhizkar
Omid is currently leading operations and policy initiatives at the Global Environment Facility Secretariat. His responsibilities include project and program reviews, portfolio operations and management, results monitoring and reporting, and the development of GEF cofinancing policy.
He joined the GEF, transitioning from the World Bank's International Finance Corporation, where he focused on private sector business development with an emphasis on sustainable development practices and forest management.
Omid holds a Ph.D. in natural resources and environmental science from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Currently, Omid is teaching a course on Foundations of Sustainable Development Practice at Harvard University.
Outside of his professional life, Omid enjoys spending time with his two children and engaging in nature and outdoor activities.
