Razan Nimir
Razan joined the GEF Secretariat in October 2024 as a Biodiversity Specialist to work on the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF). She coordinates the GBFF governance arrangements and contributes to the programming and portfolio development and management of the GBFF.
Prior to the GEF, Razan worked at the World Bank in the Environment, Natural Resources, and Blue Economy Global Practice. Early in her career, she held a junior professional internship with the Nile Basin Initiative and a professional placement with the UN Environment Programme – World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC). She dedicated many years to leading environmental voluntary initiatives in Sudan, promoting environmental culture, biodiversity conservation, and youth empowerment.
Razan holds an MPhil in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge, a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management from Technische Universität Dresden, and both an MSc in Environmental Sciences and a BSc in Zoology from the University of Khartoum.
