Wenxin Li
Wenxin Li is a Senior Climate Change Specialist at the Global Environment Facility, where she supports the development of climate change mitigation policies and investments across sectors within the Asia, Europe and Central Asia, and Middle East and North Africa regional teams of the Programming Division. With over 20 years of experience in climate change and air pollution, she brings deep technical expertise and strategic insight to her work.
Prior to joining the GEF, Wenxin served as a Senior Operations Officer at the International Finance Corporation, where she led sustainability initiatives, promoted climate finance, and supported climate transition risk management in the infrastructure and agribusiness sectors. She also played a key role in helping commercial banks scale up investments in climate solutions.
Earlier in her career, Wenxin worked at the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, where she developed monitoring, reporting, and verification methodologies for the Kyoto Protocol’s carbon market mechanisms. She began her professional journey in air quality management at Ramboll.
Wenxin holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering and science from Stanford University and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Peking University.
