GEF 2018-2022 Programming Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change for the LDCF and SCCF and Operational Improvements

The GEF initiated the 2018-2022 strategy development and consultation process for its two climate change adaptation funds, the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and the Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF) at the 23rd LDCF/SCCF Council Meeting held on November 30, 2017, in Washington, DC.

Consultation meetings to discuss the draft Strategy were undertaken in April and May 2018, and provided an opportunity for LDCF/SCCF donors and recipients to review the funds’ performance to date, assess future programming needs, and agree on needed operational improvements to support the new programming strategy.

Participants

Invited participants to the consultations included donor and recipient countries, as well as the UNFCCC (as observer) and regional representatives.

In parallel with the above consultations, a technical consultation process was conducted on email with notable adaptation experts, non-government organizations, GEF agencies, major climate change adaptation funds, and other relevant Conventions.
