The Cape Peninsula Biodiversity Conservation Project will provide resources to assist in the creation of the Cape Peninsula National Park by (i) addressing the most urgent conservation needs, including eradication of invasive exotics and improvement of local emergency response capacity (in case of oil spills or wildfires), (ii) freeing admission-fee resources to allow upgrading of visitor facilities and management systems to ensure financial sustainability of the park, (iii) expanding the Table Mountain Fund which supports mainly NGO-led conservation initiatives, and (iv) initiating strategic conservation planning for the entire Cape Floristic region. The PDF will synthesize conservation threats and strategic priorities in the Cape Floristic region, and assist designing an appropriate response program.
