Sustainable Natural Resource and Livelihood Adaptive Programme (SNRLAP)

At design, the project objective of SNRLAP was Strengthening resilience of local communities to climate change in the Butana, Sennar and Kordofan regions. However, the conflict that broke out in Sudan since April 2023 between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has reduced the project operation from 3 regions to 1 region only which is Butana region. Even within the Butana region, the SNRLAP can be implemented in 4 states only, River Nile, Kassala, Gedaref and Sennar, all located in the Eastern part of the country which still falls under the control of the Government of Sudan and where the Lead Agency, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has operational teams. It is proposed to revise the objective of SNRLAP to “Strengthening resilience of local communities to climate change and conflict in the River Nile, Kassala, Gedarif and Sennar states”.
