Mia Callenberg
Mia Callenberg works as an Environmental Specialist, supporting the GEF’s Africa regional team and the coordination of integrated programming. Her focus is on urban systems, and in particular the GEF’s Sustainable Cities program.
Prior to the GEF, Mia worked with spatial and environmental planning for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in rural South Sudan, and for the international architecture firm Foster + Partners in London, implementing environmental design and sustainable resource management for large-scale urban projects. She holds master’s degrees in Industrial Ecology, and in Architecture and Urban Design, from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden; and from École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Montpellier, France.
Mia is interested in sustainable and inclusive urbanization, particularly on the African continent. She is a chartered architect in Sweden and in the United Kingdom.
