The Capacity-building Initiative for Transparency, or CBIT, is part of the GEF's response to the Paris Agreement.
It strengthens countries' national institutional capacities on climate transparency, facilitates the development of tools and training, and it improves transparency over time.
The CBIT promotes transparency in three key areas: inventories, action, and support. Inventories help determine the country's starting point for tracking progress. Action tracks the progress of a country's mitigation and adaptation efforts. Support tracks technology, training, and financing that have been provided and received.
Successful CBIT programming transforms data to information and into action.
