Jewel Batchasingh
Jewel Batchasingh is an Environmental Specialist within the Global Environment Facility's Programming Division.
With over two decades of experience in environmental management, Jewel is a skilled and versatile environmental professional who is known for delivering results. A Trinidad and Tobago national, she has lead initiatives in the climate change, biodiversity, and chemicals and waste focal areas at the national, regional, and international level.
Prior to joining the GEF, Jewel was the Director of the Basel Convention Stockholm Convention Regional Centre, which is globally recognized as a center of excellence. With a strong project management background, she has worked on the development and implementation of GEF projects and will bring that experience to bear in her new role. Jewel has also contributed to global forums and co-chaired the ENFORCE and Plastic Waste Partnerships under the BRS Secretariat and brings expertise, strategic vision, and a collaborative approach to every endeavor.
She always enjoys sharing an anecdote or adage and loves gardening and scuba diving.
